One of the things I believe God would have us grow in as a church is to better recognize some of the ways He is at work in our midst. While I have many hopes for us as we seek to do this, three of them are primary. First, I pray that we would rejoice over His grace to us. One of our core values is “joyful worship”. Recognizing some of the ways God is working in our midst will help us to more joyfully worship Him with our lips and our lives through every season and circumstance. Secondly, I want us to be encouraged. I don’t know a person or a church body who is too encouraged. My prayer is that as we recognize some of God’s grace toward us as a church, we will be encouraged in Christ and in the worthy work He has sent us to. Third, I pray recognizing His handiwork would make us hungry for more and more of Him and His work in our midst. The truth is, God is always working in powerful and profound ways, both in the ordinary and extraordinary. Often, we don’t see it, recognize it, or acknowledge it. So, in an effort for us to recognize His gracious work more regularly, I’ll be sending out a monthly post highlighting a few ways He has been at work in our midst.

As you read these glimpses of grace every month, I would ask three things of you. First, let’s praise God and be encouraged together because of God’s work in our midst. Second, I want to encourage you to be on the lookout for God’s work in your life and share it with those around you. Third, I’d love to hear from you if you have a glimpse of God’s grace to share. Please email me at david@sentcharlotte.org

Here are three glimpses of God’s grace from the month of October:

We launched a new Sent Community. Our Sent Communities are a crucial part of who we are and what we do as a church. They exist to glorify God by making disciples together. God did not intend for us to go through the Chrisitan life alone. We get the joy of living out the mission God has called us to together as a diverse people. And we want to invite the people God sends us to to join through disciple-making. On October 10th, we got to commission a new Sent Community. Jon and Stacey Metty are serving as the leaders of this new group and it is meeting in the Cornelius area seeking to live and see more people come to know Jesus in that area. Please be praying for the Metty’s and this new group in the days ahead.

The pastors of Sent Church were honored and encouraged. Hebrews 13:17 says, “Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.” I feel confident speaking for all the pastors of Sent Church when I say that getting to serve King Jesus as one of the pastors here is truly a joy, honor, and humbling privilege. We were blessed tremendously by the encouragement we received throughout the month of October. Your encouragement to us is honoring to the Lord and is a gift of God’s grace toward us. Thank you. We love getting to serve our King as your pastors.

Josh Carver had his two year anniversary as our deacon of facilities. Josh, Sarah, and their children have been a gift to Sent Church since they joined this local body a few years ago. Over the last two years, Josh has been serving faithfully as our deacon of facilities. As a portable church that meets in a school and has to set up and tear down every week, the role Josh plays in our church is invaluable. He oversees all of our set up and tear down processes and teams. He serves in this volunteer role with excellence and joy. When you see Josh, please tell him thank you for serving Christ by serving us in this way so faithfully. And if you desire to serve on any of our set up and tear down teams, I am confident he can find you a place to get plugged in.

I pray these glimpses of God’s grace would bring us to more joyfully worship our great God and be encouraged in Him and the work He has sent us to. What a mighty, gracious, and active God we serve!
